Starting Therapy
How therapy works
My process is tailored to each client. My training is in integrative therapy, which means that I have a core grounding in humanistic therapy, but will bring in different approaches that might serve the client better.
I think that at the core, I do believe that we are a relational species, and so our connections with others are often both the source of support and love, and also a source of confusion and pain if the connection is not working for either person. Often people are seeking an answer as to if they are ‘in the right’ or ‘reasonable’ to expect certain behaviour from others. Unfortunately, there is no clear answer for this. Humans are messy — all of us. But that messiness is why therapy can be a useful tool at many times in your life.
Helping people navigate life’s
transitions has been a joy to me since my days as a homebirth midwife in the US.
I offer empathy and understanding, and often help people come to accept more of themselves, and then they know the direction they need to take next.
